Really interesting idea. Shame no one's heard of it.

Here's my question:

Gov. Huckabee,
I am one of over two million (and counting) people in this country who are homeschooled. And there are millions more who are private schooled. What will you do for us? We are currently paying tons of dollars for our school taxes. But we are not even allowed to use those facilities! Will you give us a partial or full refund on our school taxes?

But we are not even allowed to use those facilities!

Not allowed or chose not to? Since many are homeschooled for religious reasons, giving a refund would be tantamount to subsidizing religious education.

No, not allowed to. Ever seen a homeschooler allowed on the high school football team?

Of course, it will vary from school to school. Still, why should we pay for something we don't WANT to use?

I don't want to pay for the war, so should I be receiving a refund?

It is your choice to not use the schools. And why would a homeschooled child be on a school team, anyway?

Because we pay for the coach who coaches that team? Because we pay for the facilities that team uses?

And you choose not to use them. You are perfectly welcome to use them, in accordance with how the city/state sees fit. It is you who is making the choice to not use them.

Why should I, a single person with no kids and no desire to have a kid, have to pay for your kids to have the use of those facilities? Why should my taxes have to pay for a war I do not support? Or be given to faith-based charities, as Bush has allowed?

That is a great question Andrew. That should be a very interesting answer that I'd like to hear most candidates answer.

I think it is too.
I am interested in this concept.
