Ever wanted to create a timeline? "Why would I," you ask. Well, Newsviners have a VERY good reason to. How about for all stories 10 votes +? MIT has a solution. From the labs of SIMILE comes Timeline. From their site:
Timeline is a DHTML-based AJAXy widget for visualizing time-based events. It is like Google Maps for time-based information. Below is a live example that you can play with. Pan the timeline by dragging it horizontally.
It's completely client-side. You add data to the XML file, and voila! Their documentation is good for technical users, but for non-technical guys, go to Lifehacker. Their article gives you the source HTML and XML file you need. If you add a lot of events, I recommend making the div 100%.
