Online Member-Only Sites Got You Down? 2 Extensions for Firefox Will Fix That!

These days, thousands of sites are "exclusive", or member only. But as these big companies make these sites, small programmers are fighting back. Trashmail.net and BugMeNot.com are classic examples. One makes it easy to sign up, and the other makes it easy to access the content inside member-only sites WITHOUT signing up! But without more ado, into the stories:

Don't Bug Me With BugMeNot!

BugMeNot.com is a site that takes user submitted logins and passwords, and lets you use them! However, it's hard to go all the way over to BugMeNot.com every time you wish to login to a new site. Enter the BugMeNot extension. Just right-click on the username box, and click on the BugMeNot button. It will go through multiple logins, and finally login. Plus, it's been tested on Firebird 0.7, Firefox 0.8 - 1.5.0.3, Flock developer preview, Mozilla 1.6, 1.7b and Netscape 7! Note: The newest BugMeNot is not available for the newest Firefox. We expect the developer to fix this.

With some sites, BugMeNot won't work. But to sign up for many sites, you often must provide an email address. This may lead to spam. Instead, use the free Trashmail.net extension. It creates an email forwarder to your current email, and then deletes after a certain amount of forwards/days. Just right click on an email box, and click "Paste Disposable Email Address", and voila! you have a temporary email address.

Don't forget Mailinator. I've been using the site for close to 3 years and it hasn't let me down once.

Remember: This is not an anonymous mail service. All mail server activity is logged.

Perhaps worth emphasizing about trashmail.net.
